School Introduction
Our school is located in the approximate center of Okazaki city surrounded by two big rivers, Yahagi in the west, and Sugo in the south. Our school was established in 1961 and now it's a medium-size school with 17 classes and about 550 students. Some high-rise buildings such as department stores and shopping malls are in our school district and many people visit from the surburbs. Also, a lot of people have their own business and there are some factories of various sizes.
Our school was established as the 13th in Okazaki city in 1961. It started with 28 teachers and 954 students. Renjaku Elementary School and Ryukai Junior High School were used temporarily. We, the teaching staff,have tried to raise earnest and eager students. What we demand from students must be considered the problems of teachers also and must be practiced by us, too. These are based on the students' 3 principles and teachers' 3 principles.

Cleative and unique school events and student council activities - Gyoten marathon ( jogging at dawn), performance of class songs, recycling activities, cleaning activities, visiting elderly citizens, open lectures, activities for international understanding, Johoku science day and so on - have been enjoyable and rewarding for the students.

At the same time we have made efforts to make the environment better to enrich the students' minds. For example, 1 minute-meditation before each class, Self-service students' stand, Tower of ambition, Garden of geology, Pond of aquatic plants, Apple of Newton, Grapes of Mendel, Ohga lotus, Ginkgo of seeds discovery, Moss garden, Fern garden and so on. Johoku student's attitudes have been cultivated by our adherence to this teaching philosophy.
