Gyoten Marathon

Jogging at dawn

It is held at 4:45 on a winter morning. First, all students come together at the school ground and dance"Jenka"around the big fire in the center of the ground. It's still dark before dawn, all students jog around our school district saying "Yoisho-Yoisho (Heave-ho)" While the students are runnnig, it gets brighter as the sun rises. Students are warm since they run about 5km with only a few rests. Some boy students take off their T-shirts. It's a long distance to jog, but students run back to school, full of good sprits. Only people who have experienced it can get this feeling. After jogging, we eat hot Miso Udon (Japanese noodles) which students' mothers have made.
