Okazaki is south of Toyota city, famous for its automobiles. The capital,Tokyo is about 350 kilometers east of Okazaki.

 

About the Okazaki park

Okazaki is renowned for being the birthplace of the great shogun Ieyasu Tokugawa. The beautiful Okazaki castle was built by shogun Tokugawa. The Okazaki fireworks exhibition is held in the summer at the Oto river that flows in front of the castle, gorgeous firworks can be seen there. In spring ,to celebrate our proud histoy, about a thousand people dress like ancient Japanese warriors and march down the city's central　streets. When t he cherry blossoms bloom, many people come out to view and enjoy these spring flowers. Okazaki is quite famous for its splendid cherry blossoms.

 

Miso

Do you know that Okazaki is famous for its Miso-sauce, too? Miso is made from beans,is distinctly Japanese taste, and is considered as impotant to our meals as soy-sauce is. Beans are placed in a barrel, compressed under a heavy stone and fermented in older to make miso. Recently, miso has been sold as a health food overseas. Perhaps, miso is even sold at a store near you. If you can find it, please try the Japanese taste.
